How to Get Rid of a Hickey

A hickey is basically a bruise on your skin. But when given one by someone you have affection for it means so much more. A hickey is very easy to be given but a little more difficult to remove. But with time and patience you can get rid of any hickey. Here are several tips to help you get rid of them. I hope you enjoy.

1. Get an ice pack or wrap ice around a towel and place it on the hickey. Leave it on the hickey for a few minutes and remove it once it gets to cold for you. Than place it on the hickey again.

2. One very effective method to use is a comb or toothbrush. First you will need to brush the hickey with a toothbrush or comb. This will get circulation going in the hickey. Wait a few minutes before the next step. At first the discoloration will spread but it will be less obvious. Apply an ice pack on the area. Then repeat the brushing if needed.

3. You can always use make up to hide the hickey. Use a green-tinted concealer because it is made to hide red skin tones. Check Out Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer at Amazon.com

4. You can simply wear a piece of clothing that covers the hickey. A scarf or turtleneck is one of the best choices. Or if you have long hair you can try a style that covers it.

5. Use the spoon method to get rid of the hickey. Put a spoon in a freezer for a while so it can get cold. Then place it on your hickey and slide it like a brush. You will have to keep freezing the spoon as it gets warm.

6. Use the coin method by scraping your skin with a coin. Be careful because this method is the most painful, but it will give you the real results. First you need to stretch the skin around the hickey flat by pulling away from the hickey on opposite sides. Now use the side of a large quarter or coin to scrape the skin. Just imagine that you are putting butter on toast, and keep spreading outward. Keep in mind that you have to press quite hard (but as hard so you don't break the skin, bleed, or hurt).

7. Try putting a layer of toothpaste on to the hickey. Very gently apply some toothpaste on the hickey and leave it on there for a few minutes at a time. After it stops tingling, wash away the toothpaste with a luke warm washcloth. Wait a day and repeat the process if necessary. You will see better results if you can do this as soon as you receive the hickey. Check Out CoverGirl Professional Translucent Face Loose Powder Translucent at Amazon.com
