How to Date Online

Online dating is a great way to meet new people and start a connection. There are so many options and methods you can use to date online. With the abundance of online dating websites and people willing to use the internet you can find many fun and genuine people. However, there are a few things you should know before you get started into dating on line. Read on for some online dating tips.

1. Know What You Want

The first thing you will need to figure out is what type of dating you are looking for. If you know what you want than you may have a better chance finding the person of your dreams in online dating. Do you want something more long-term (maybe marriage), casual dating or simply a one night stand. Another online dating tip you need to figure out is what kind of person you want to meet. How old should they be, race, body type and any interests.

2. Make Your Decision

Once you have that settled, you need to pick an online dating website. There are several to choose from so you may need to browse a few before you make a decision. The main things you should take into consideration when picking an online dating site is your budget, commitment to online dating in general and your dating goals. There are free online dating sites and there are ones that cost a fee. You can try some of the free online dating websites but you may have to apply for at least one paying site to find some good interesting (realhuman) people. Some dating sites with a fee are Yahoo!Personals ($13.99-$25.99 per month), Match.com ($24.95-$65.70), eHarmony ($49.95-$249.95) and Perfectmatch.com ($59.95 - $249.95. Some of the free sites are Plentyoffish.com, OkCupid.com, Craigslist, Myspace and Facebook.

3. Create a Profile

Once you find a site you like you are going to have to create an online dating profile. This is probably the most difficult (and most essential) on the online dating process. Your profile can depend on you getting 5 new messages a day to not having one in 6 months. But don't stress over it, this article will give you some pointers. The main thing you have to keep in mind is that your profile is not a job interview. So many people make the mistake of writing just facts and it comes across very stoic and serious. People don't want to be around someone like that, especially for the purpose of dating. Try to come across as a fun, loving and nice individual. The main thing you need to keep in mind with these online dating sites is that you should not lie. Don't put a picture of yourself from five years ago if you don't look anything like that. If you are bald now don't have hair in your pic; if you gained quite a bit of weight, don't have a picture of when you were fit.

4. Chat Before You Meet

A very important tip you need to do is have a nice long chat online before you ever meet in person. You should make gradual steps before you ever meet for that first one on one date. You could go from sending each other messages, to texting on the phone, to talking on the phone and to finally meet up somewhere local like a bar or restaurant. Hopefully, if your dates go well you could end up together in bed or at the altar.

5. Move on

If that person you meet or chat with doesn't spark your interest, just move on. There are so many people in the online dating world so you have your pick of the litter. Don't waste your time or theirs if you are not finding them engaging. Just simply say your goodbyes and find the next person of your dreams.
